AICTE – Mitacs Globalink Research Internship (GRI) Scheme(AM-GRIS)
Overview
About AM-GRIS
The AICTE – Mitacs Globalink Research Internship (GRI) scheme funds research internships for Indian undergraduate students at universities in Canada. It is run by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), a statutory body under the Ministry of Education, together with Mitacs, a research organisation based in Canada. Students apply directly through the Mitacs portal, and AICTE co-funds those who are selected.
The programme dates to a memorandum of understanding that AICTE signed with Mitacs on 23 February 2018. Its aim is to open a path for collaborative research between India and Canada and to give a wider set of Indian students research experience in a Canadian setting. Each internship runs for twelve weeks, scheduled between May and September, and is hosted by a faculty member at a Canadian university.
The scheme is meant for third-year full-time undergraduates in engineering and technology (B.E. or B.Tech.) at AICTE-approved institutions, across science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields. The support is financial: AICTE and Mitacs jointly fund the internship, covering a selected student's costs of taking up the placement in Canada. The full eligibility conditions, funding shares and application steps are set by AICTE and Mitacs.
